to end poverty for good!

Our dedicated supporters consistently step up for our families, challenging themselves to "move" in ways that inspire them. Individual supporters, run and cycle clubs, businesses, restaurants, and more, dedicate their time and energy to do good for the families we work alongside. We've seem some crazy things done to raise funds like running 200 miles in 8 days, cycling 600 miles in a month, swimming 100 laps underwater, and the list goes on.

We hope you decide to "move" with us this year! All that we ask is you choose something that you're passionate about, choose a timeframe that works for you, and raise funds to make an impact on the lives and livelihoods of others.

FAQ

Got a question that’s not answered below? Send us a note at moveacrossmay@dowork.org.

  • The Move Across May is a month long campaign challenging you to move with us, in whatever way you choose, to help us accompany families in Haiti out of poverty for good. Pick a challenge and move with us this May!

  • Registration for 2025 Move Across May will begin on March 1st, 2025. You can start your challenge on May 1st and will have until May 31st to complete it and raise funds to support our mission.

  • Whether you walk, run, climb, swim, or choose any activity that brings you joy, you can participate. Past examples include running 200 miles, swimming 100 lengths underwater, collecting 50 pieces of recyclables per week, completing an act of kindness a day, learning a new language, cycling 500 miles... the sky's the limit. The idea is to commit to an activity, reach your fundraising goal, and move with us as a community. Reach out if you have questions or if you're looking for some inspiration!

  • Strava is not integrated to our website. You can still add images and stats by using the “add media” button when updating your activity and clicking the Strava icon. It will show a summary of your activity, but not the images (maps).

  • You can join the move across may as an individual or set up a team made up of friends, family, clubs, or co-workers. The best part is that everyone can choose a unique activity while moving together to make an impact. You can set up a team or join someone else's team.

  • Yes! You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter): @doworkorg.

  • PledgeIt is our official platform for the Move Across May campaign. When you register and set up your campaign page, you'll be able to track your activity, share updates with supporters, and fundraise - all in one place!

  • We recommend raising $200 USD. Each year, the majority of our participants will crush this goal so we’re confident that you will too. The best part is that they’ve let us share their tips and secrets with you, all hosted on our Resources page.

  • We do! If you receive cash, Venmo, or any checks while fundraising, please reach out to moveacrossmay@dowork.org to let us know. All checks should be made payable to WORK and mailed to: WORK, 360 E 2nd Street, Suite 800, Los Angeles, CA 90012

  • The funds raised will ensure we can continue to provide uninterrupted wrap-around services to our families and support their ability to pull themselves out of poverty through dignified work. Here's how each level of fundraising supports our programming in Haiti:

$30 - provides access to medical care and follow up care for a family member

$60 - ensures a student receives supplemental education to achieve success

$100 - supports healthy meals for a month for a family of 6

$350 - provides an education scholarship for primary or secondary school student for one year

$500 - enables a family member to start a small business to earn a dignified income

$1000 - provides a scholarship for college for one year

$1500 - provides full wrap around services for a family member for one year
