6th Annual Blackjack Spectacular

PHOTOGRAPHY BY YA MOMZ HOUSE INC.

On Thursday evening, we celebrated a year of spectacular growth at our 6th Annual Blackjack Spectacular in Pittsburgh where we reached beyond our fundraising goal to raise $100,095! Throughout the evening, we were encouraged by your unwavering support for our work. It’s the feedback we needed to share with our team and families in Haiti as they’re going through a time of uncertainty. Thank you.

At the event, our guests explored the story of Carmitha Adme and our long term investments in her, her family, and her business that has resulted in a dignified future for them. Our ability to reach this outcome was made possible by the many 1:1 Sponsors who stood alongside the Admes.

Also featured was our collaboration at the First Mile with our sister company Thread. To date, over 50 million plastic bottles have been recycled into products with brands you’d recognize, 2,000+ collectors are generating an income, and 150 kids are in school instead of at work at a landfill.

We have a real shot at reimagining what global waste infrastructure that provides dignified work should look and act like. We also have First Mile brand partners such as HP to thank for this progress, who was the Presenting Sponsor for the evening.

There’s a great deal of work ahead but the momentum is on our side. We appreciate our family and friends in Pittsburgh for getting behind us from the beginning and to our High Roller Sponsor UPMC, UPMC Health Plan, and UPMC Enterprises for their growing support of this event over the past few years.

Thank you.

For our families…,
The WORK Team
