1:1 CAMPAIGN: Nicole & Carol

Thank You Series_Blog Post 2_v1-04.jpg

We're pleased to share that our regular programs have resumed with COVID-19 protocols in place. Distribution of PPE and COVID-19 updates will continue for as long as we need. The new connections made and the new programming launched have allowed us to emerge as a stronger unit and will remain for the foreseeable future. With the hard work of 36 volunteers from our community, the repair work our families need due to the Tropical Storm Laura is also quickly wrapping up.

We've shared this time and again, that quick and effective response with a commitment to getting the work done cannot be possible without the support of our 1:1 Sponsors. The 1:1 Campaign is made up of supporters like you who have committed to investing in our families with a monthly contribution. 100% of this funding supports our services, and in times like this, allows us to react efficiently and responsibly to address the needs of our families. Today, we’re thrilled to share one of our success stories.

WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE 1:1 CAMPAIGN WHEN we first shared it with you?

I was happy because I had someone who believed in me and that person will allow me through the organization to achieve my goals.

I got involved with WORK after hearing Tassy and Ian speak at North Way Christian Community Church. The story of how Ian took a leap of faith and boarded a plane to Haiti inspired me. He made a promise to Tassy that he vowed to keep and an organization with that type of leadership is one I wanted to support.

When I heard Ian and Tassy’s story I felt led to step up and answer the call to help. It wasn’t a long decision making process. They asked for people to help, I said “yes,” and the rest followed.

WHAT MAKES YOU EXCITED ABOUT OUR WORK?

WORK is an organization that has a lot of structure. WORK believes in progress of every individual in all aspects. Do not hesitate to be our sponsors, you will not be disappointed!

I know that WORK is built from the ground up by the hands and hearts of people who truly love the country, culture, and people of Haiti. I know they are 1,000% committed to fulfilling their vision of walking alongside the people of Haiti and doing whatever it takes to make a difference.

WHAT HAVE YOU MOST ENJOYED ABOUT YOUR 1:1 EXPERIENCE?

I am happy because through WORK I achieved a lot of goals that I have set. I will be able to realize the rest of my objectives with God.

Taking a trip to Haiti to meet Nicole, celebrate her college graduation, and meet many of the other families WORK supports had a powerful, lasting impact on my life and worldview. I think about Nicole, her life, and the lives of our friends in Haiti quite often.

WHAT DID THE IDEA OF HAVING A DIRECT CONNECTION MEAN TO YOU?

Thank You Series_Blog Post 2_v1-11.jpg

It made me glad that the WORK family is growing and I had a new friend. We were able to share our experiences and culture.

My time sponsoring Nicole was amazing because of the authentic human connections I was able to make. I was able to build real friendships and relationships and see tangible evidence of where my support was going. Knowing Nicole personally made my monthly donation more meaningful than if I would have just written a check to the general fund of another nonprofit. I felt like my support was actually making a difference when I could hear about Nicole, her family, and WORK’s endeavors in Haiti.

if you can help us welcome our future 1:1 sponsors & families, what would you say to them?

I wish all the sponsors welcome. WORK is doing a work you will not find easily, which is very rare in Haiti.

When you partner with work you are joining a family. It’s a family full of hard workers who will never stop dreaming and working diligently to fulfill their promises.

INVEST TO END POVERTY. ACCOMPANY OUR FAMILIES.
